Before and after of our director’s home retrofit
We implemented a strategic solution to boost the thermal performance of the home By adding 50mm of insulation to the inside of the external walls and sloped ceilings, we aimed to significantly reduce heat loss and improve overall energy efficiency, preparing it for the installation of a heat pump.
To ensure seamless integration of the insulation while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the home, we installed a decorative plywood window cill and surround. This not only ensured the insulation continuity but also served to draught-proof the windows, further enhancing thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
The addition of internal insulation offers a range of benefits beyond improved thermal performance. It creates a more comfortable living environment by minimising temperature fluctuations which allows for reduced energy use and results in lowering the cost of energy bills. Moreover, by preparing the home for the future installation of a heat pump, we're taking a proactive step towards a low-carbon heating source and moving away from reliance on fossil fuels.
