Sunny Brow Retrofit
The project involves the careful retrofit of a historic 18th/19th-century farmhouse, aiming to enhance energy efficiency while preserving its character and complying with the planning regulations of the Lake District National Park and Staveley Conservation Area.
We are collaborating closely with the homeowners to develop a comprehensive strategy that addresses both energy performance and indoor air quality. Our approach includes enhancing wall and roof insulation and upgrading to new high-performance windows and insulated doors that match the existing style to reduce energy consumption while maintaining compliance with conservation area guidelines and not changing to appearance of the house. We are also addressing damp issues through a tailored ventilation strategy designed to ensure adequate airflow throughout the house, thus mitigating moisture build-up.
Additionally, minor works to the timber projection on the first floor will be undertaken to improve its thermal performance and aesthetic appeal. Some internal layout changes are also planned to optimise space and functionality.
Ultimately, these retrofit measures are designed to prepare the property for the integration of a heat pump system, thereby lowering the carbon emissions of the property and contributing to a more sustainable future.
