St Bees Extension: Comfort with Coastal Views

At Architecta, we’re thrilled to bring this stunning transformation to life in St Bees, Cumbria, where the breathtaking sea views set the scene for a truly inspired home extension. The homeowners sought to enhance their ground-floor living areas and expand their family bathroom on the first floor.

Our team began with a full feasibility study, carefully assessing the existing structure and exploring design possibilities to meet the family’s needs while proiritising the goal to make the most of the panoramic views of the cliffs over the sea and St Bee’s Head.

Originally, the layout included a front-facing living area and a rear kitchen, with limited access to the scenery that makes St Bees so remarkable. The existing extension was also in disrepair, prompting the need for a modern, functional upgrade.

The proposed ground-floor layout introduces an expansive living space that opens to the sea with large bifold doors and a new deck area, creating a seamless flow from indoor comfort to the beautiful outdoors. The reimagined plan not only brings the views into focus but also connects the front sitting room’s cosy fireplace with a spacious entertainment area at the rear. The design incorporates an internal link to the garage and a new downstairs WC, enhancing practicality and convenience.
